New Site for Dulson HGV Driver Training in Llay, Wrexham

Dulson Training creates more options for learners with move to
new site in Wrexham
Driver training specialist Dulson Training has moved to a new site on the north side
of Wrexham - creating a more accessible base for learners from North Wales and
the North West of England.
The new site at Llay will deliver more efficient and effective training packages in the
area and is the culmination of a five-year growth plan delayed by Covid, with the
company saying it is now correctly positioned to make the move to better
accommodate its learners.
Dulson Training already has established training sites in Shrewsbury and Telford,
has new sites secured in Ludlow on the Herefordshire border and in Willenhall, West
Midlands. The firm started delivering licence acquisition training in Wrexham just
before the first Covid lockdown and, since restrictions eased, has had a successful
term working in the area - initially using a satellite site in Oswestry, and now from
Llay following the decision to move the operation to a better location.
Steve Dulson, of Dulson Training, said: “Our new site is only a few minutes from the
DVSA driving test centre at Llay, Wrexham. We have access to 3a practice and
testing facilities and can now offer the full licence acquisition training experience
from a more central location.
“Many of our learners are from Wrexham but we also noticed a high number were
from a little further into the North West, including Widnes, Deeside, The Wirral,
Chester and south Manchester. Our new site is on the North side of Wrexham and is
much more accessible for learners in the North West.
“But even more important, the new location will prove more effective for training
courses with every learner starting and finishing their driving lessons in the heart of
the Wrexham test routes, reducing travel time to and from Oswestry by an hour per
lesson. Although this driving time is still beneficial time behind the wheel, the quality
of that time will be significantly improved with that hour spent on test routes.
“We are able to run all categories of lorry and bus licence acquisition courses from
the site, including B+E safe towing and MHE including Lorry Mounted Crane. We
have local facilities for ADR, Driver CPC Periodic and Level 3 Emergency First Aid at
Work courses. We will continue to offer these at our Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Telford
and Ludlow classrooms and will now include Wrexham.
“Dulson Training is passionate about customer service and a firm believer in the
happier and more satisfied a customer is, the better our reputation - a learner’s
success is directly linked to our future success. This move to a new site was part of a

five-year growth plan, delayed due to Covid, but we are now correctly positioned to
make the move to better accommodate our learners.”
Mr Dulson said Dulson Training was always considerate and methodical when
making changes to training programmes, thinking things through before making a
significant change to locations, sites or training structure.
He said: “Driver training has seen a growth in popularity in the last two years as
everyone has been trying to catch up from the Covid backlog. Levels of service are
starting to return to what we would term 'normal' and business as usual can resume
with some affected plans reinstated. We are excited about this change and the
improvements it will make to our learners' experience.
“For many people a career in driving is a dream but there can be barriers funding the
process and finding a reliable training provider. We are able to offer finance
packages and have access to funding for some individuals to complete their training.
“We are a National Register of LGV Instructors training and exam centre, have been
awarded an Armed Forces Covenant award for our services to ex-forces personnel -
who we have supported as learners and employees in full-time instructor roles, are
on the Register of Approved Training Providers and have our own DVSA customer
test sites in Shrewsbury, Telford and Ludlow.
“In Wrexham we have moved our site to within a few minutes of the public DVSA
driving test centre, and our Willenhall site is only a few minutes from the public
DVSA driving test site at Featherstone in the Wolverhampton area. All positive
factors which maintain our position as one of the country’s leading training
providers.”
