NRI and a week with Dulson Training.
After an unfortunate few weeks with travel restrictions being put in place and testing being cancelled David visited Dulson Training at its approved examination centre to complete his NRI Instructors qualification.
David spent the week with our NRI Instructor Paul Gouge looking at all aspects of the required training to enable him to complete his exam on the Friday. This qualification is highly sought after in the transport industry and David was very keen to successfully complete his qualification so he could pursue his dream of opening a driver training school in his native Scotland.
Paul spent day one with David looking at the course criteria and discussing where David thought his strengths and weaknesses may be before starting. David felt his driving ability to be particularly strong but his theory could potentially let him down.
In order to become a qualified NRI Instructor your knowledge base in relation to theory needs to cover a considerable subject area from instructional techniques, legislation, highway code and eco safe driving to which there are many separate elements.
Over the next few days Paul and Dave focused on the upcoming exam day and made sure David was aware of exactly how the day would run from start to finish. Each exam day consists of an examiner briefing followed by a theory test, 1 hour drive to assess ability, 3 in cab lessons covering a new skill, skill fade and post test failure all of which are undertaken on a role play scenario and David's final test would see him deliver classroom training on a chosen subject.
Unlike some tests David's result is delivered to his Instructor first who will then debrief on whether he has been successful or not.
This is really quite an intense week's worth of training to obtain your NRI but can only benefit you as an individual moving forward.
David is unfamiliar with the area and has taken this training on without hesitation and proved his qualities. Studying theory, learning driving routes, completing numerous role plays with Paul to become more assured with delivery and even putting a significant powerpoint together for his classroom training.
With all this hard work David excelled on Friday and can now add his name to the list of NRI Accredited Instructors and all at Dulson Training wish him every success with whatever he decides to do now.
