Government Funding HGV LGV Driver Training Shropshire
Advanced Learner Loan
Introduction for Advanced Learner Loan Programme
Working with Any Driver Ltd we have access to Advanced Learner Loan funding. The Advanced Learner Loans we use are exactly the same as the ones people studying at Colleges or University have access to – you might know them as Student Loans.
The Loans can be used by anyone who is aged 19 or above, has been resident in the UK for the last 3 years, has a current National Insurance number and is eligible to work in the UK. You can be employed, self-employed or unemployed and there is no credit check required.
The Loans are ONLY available to people who live in England – unfortunately we cannot offer this facility to anyone who lives in Wales.
We would like to confirm that this training is NOT free, it is a Government backed loan – you will begin to pay the loan back when you earn over £25’000 per year. The loan value is £3838.00 The Student Loan Company will notify you when you need to start making repayments and they will be taken at source, so you don’t need to do anything to arrange the repayments.
Please remember, this loan facility is accessed via Any Driver Ltd, not Dulson Training Ltd. You will receive correspondence from the Student Loan Company at various times and it will state your loan is through Any Driver Ltd.
The programme we can offer you comprises of the following:
- Level 3 Certificate in Transporting Freight by Road (NVQ)
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Customer Service (NVQ)
- On road progression training & tests for either category C or C+E (formerly known as class 2 or class 1).
The 2 NVQ qualifications will be completed side-by-side and will be done over a 14-week period – both will need to be completed before you progress to the on-road training & practical tests.
The 2 NVQ qualifications are funded via the Advanced Learner Loan – the on-road training & practical tests are paid for and delivered by Dulson Training Ltd and do NOT form any part of the Advanced Learner Loan. Whilst you are completing the NVQ qualifications, Dulson Training Ltd will arrange & pay for your medical assessment, this will be done in the 1st month so that you can apply for your provisional entitlement to drive in plenty of time. If you have already completed your medical and have your provisional entitlement, you’re good to go!
Transporting Freight by Road:
This qualification consists of 2 full days in the classroom, completing individual & group work, written work, online research & discussions. The 2 classroom days are spread over the whole course, we can even arrange weekend sessions if it is necessary, but it is essential that you attend both days. In addition, there will be a practical on-road driving session that also includes regulatory vehicle checks. The dates & times for all sessions will be agreed with you as you progress through the programme.
Customer Service:
To complete the customer service element of the programme you will need to attend 3 half day work experience sessions in our offices. During the work experience sessions, you will be expected to get involved with talking to customers, helping to deal with queries, updating systems and working with other departments – but we will help and support you every step of the way! There is also written work that you need to complete, the workbooks will be emailed to you and you will need to complete them either in your own time or when you attend for the work experience sessions. Our NVQ co-ordinator, Ella, will be working with you during these sessions and will ensure you are on the right path at all times.
It is important to understand that these 2 qualifications will require a commitment from you – they are both A Level standard qualifications and you will need to put in the effort required to complete them. They are both extremely valuable qualifications and will make you stand out from the crowd – once you’ve completed the programme and are looking for employment within the transport industry, in addition to your Cat C or C+E licence you will also have 2 industry recognised qualifications.
On-road progression training & tests:
Once you have successfully completed the 2 NVQ qualifications Dulson Training Ltd will provide you with theory & hazard perception training materials and, when you’re ready, book and pay for your theory & hazard perception tests. Once you’ve passed those, we will arrange your in-vehicle training and, again when you’re ready, we’ll book and pay for your practical test. If you’re successful at your first attempt at the practical test, Dulson Training Ltd will then book and pay for your Module 2 & 4 driver CPC. By completing the programme, you’ll be “job ready” and able to hit the road.
We would just like to re-confirm that the on-road progression training & tests are paid for and delivered by Dulson Training Ltd and they do NOT form any part of the Advanced Learner Loan.
We hold regular enrolment days at Dulson Training Ltd, On the enrolment days we will provide further details about this program and you can enrol.
