LGV Instructor Training
The course provides candidates with the skills necessary to prepare drivers for the DVSA Cat C and C+E driving tests, to deliver Driver CPC training, and to carry out post-assessment/incident remedial training. It also prepares candidates for the independent National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI) examination. On successful completion of the course candidates will:
Be able to plan and deliver LGV training
Be able to recall and discuss the responsibilities of a LGV instructor
Be able to explain the content and objectives of the LGV driving test
Fees include a fully equipped Dulson Training Ltd training vehicle (either C1, C or C+E as appropriate) with a fully qualified, occupationally competent, experienced instructor. Training is arranged on a 1 to 1 basis, 4 hours per day, although by special arrangement shared training (2 to 1) may be available.

The LGV instructor course concludes with an objective examination carried out by an NRI examiner. All elements of the examination must be passed in order to successfully qualify as an LGV instructor.

Following the successful completion of the examination, you will be required to complete a registration form which outlines the terms and conditions of your qualification. The form must be sent, along with all requested documents, for final approval. You will then be sent a registration number and photo card within 10 to 15 working days, which will be valid for five years.
USEFUL GUIDANCE
The NRI exam will consist of 4 parts:
Part 1 - Theory Examination
100 multiple choice questions from 4 subject areas (Instructor Technique, highway code, legislation, eco safe driving and testing) 80% pass mark required
Part 2 - Practical Driving Ability
A one hour drive and one off road exercise consisting of either a reverse or uncouple and couple. No more than six driving faults are allowed and no serious or dangerous faults
Part 3 - In Cab Training Exercises
Teaching a new skill to a novice, remedial training to someone who has skill fade, demonstration drive with commentary to someone who has failed a test. A 70% pass mark is required in each of these elements.
Part 4 - Classroom Training
A pre allocated subject is given which must then be delivered as a classroom presentation. a 70% pass mark is also required in this section.
To give you an idea of this course's credentials it is fully supported by the Road Haulage Association, the Freight Transport Association and finally most importantly it is recognised as the Industry standard and endorsed by the DVSA.

- Must be 21 Years Old
- Must hold a current UK Driving License
- Must have held the valid category that you wish to instruct for at least 3 years
