What is Initial Mod 4 Training
The Driver CPC Initial Qualification is split into 2 modules. Module 2 is CPC Case Studies, a computer based test with Multiple Choice answers that we can help you to book at any theory test centre nationwide.
Once you have passed the Module 2, we can arrange the Module 4 CPC Practical Demonstration test. We will provide a lorry or bus, training and the safety and security practical test. Once you have passed both modules you will be issued with a new Driver CPC (DQC) card which will be valid for 5 years.
WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE
During the Module 2 and Module 4 training and tests, you will learn new skills, legislation and techniques to help you become a safer and more compliant professional lorry or bus driver. You will learn about border control, safety and security of your vehicle, loading, vehicle safety checks and dealing with emergency situations.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
The Module 2 can be prepared for at home using an online portal that we will set up for you. Once you have passed this we can arrange the half day Module 4 training and test at one of our training sites.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
If you are unsure about the process please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss it in more detail or to make an appointment to visit one of our training centres.
If you are happy to proceed we will guide you through and complete the initial steps, set up an online portal and help you with booking the Module 2 test. We can discuss and arrange a suitable training course and tests, including the duration of training, location and suitable dates.
Yes, but most people complete these together. If you have contacted us and wish to arrange a lorry or bus licence training course we will aim to arrange your Module 2 and Module 4 alongside your other training. This will be a more efficient way of completing these steps.
You may already hold a lorry or bus licence, maybe on acquired rights (pre 1997 car licence) or perhaps you passed it in the military and you did not need Driver CPC at the time. To gain your Driver CPC you can complete the Module 2 and Module 4 Initial Qualification and a new CPC DQC card will be issued, this will be valid for 5 years.
If it is still valid, you can still use it to drive professionally. You will need to complete 35 hours of Driver CPC Periodic Training to renew the qualification. This can be during the initial 5 years, or after it has expired to regain the qualification. You can not retake the Module 2 and Module 4 Initial Qualification.
No, the online portal, Module 2 Case Studies and Module 4 Practical Demonstration tests will all be different. If you wish to drive a Lorry and a Bus professionally you will need to pass the Initial Qualification for both. Once you have passed the Initial Qualification, your DQC card will be for both Lorry and Bus and any future Periodic Training would normally count for both.
No, although you could attend multiple Periodic Training courses, the hours will not count towards renewing your qualification. Once you have passed the Initial Qualification and received your DQC card you can attend Periodic Training and use the hours towards your 35 hours.
