Other - Advanced Learner Loan LGV Program
Course Information
Would you like funding to help you to train as a professional driver? Dulson Training Ltd now offer Advanced Learner Loans to help you to gain your driving qualifications.
Our Advanced Learner Loans are supplied by Any Driver Ltd and are similar to student loans provided for people studying at colleges or university.
The loans can be used by anyone aged 19 years or over and have been resident in the UK for the last three years, have a valid National Insurance number and are eligible to work in the UK. The loans are only available to people who live in England and unfortunately are not available to people who live in Wales.
This training is not free, but as a Government backed loan you will only begin to start repayments when you are earning £25,000 a year or above.
Our available programmes include:
- Level 3 Certificate in Transporting Freight by Road (NVQ).
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Customer Service (NVQ).
- On-road progression training & tests for either category C or C+E (formerly known as class 2 or class 1)
The two NVQ qualifications will be completed side-by-side over a 14-week period - both will need to be completed before you can progress to the on-road training & practical tests.
The two NVQ qualifications are funded via the Advanced Learner Loan – the on-road training & practical tests are paid for and delivered by Dulson Training Ltd and do NOT form any part of the Advanced Learner Loan. Whilst you are completing the NVQ qualifications, Dulson Training Ltd will arrange and pay for your medical assessment. This will be done in the first month so that you can apply for your provisional entitlement to enable your training to commence. If you have already completed your medical and have your provisional entitlement, you’re good to go!
To find out more about our wide range of professional driving training and if you are eligible for funding, contact our team today. We also hold regular enrolment days at Dulson Training Ltd to provide further information on these programmes and the opportunity to register.
Licence Requirements

- Must hold a current UK Driving Licence
- Must hold a valid National Insurance number
- Must live in England
Who should train? Why should I train?
The haulage sector is currently experiencing a crisis, with 45,000 more drivers needed to fill the driver shortage across the UK. The demand for new drivers is high and there has never been a better time to consider a career in the transport sector. So why not contact us today to find out how an Advanced Learner Loan can help to fund your professional driving qualification?
We hold regular enrolment days at Dulson Training Ltd where we will provide further details about this programme and you can register.
Should you decide to proceed, there is paperwork to complete along with a short online assessment in English & Maths. Please don't worry, it's not a pass or fail test! You will then apply for your Advanced Learner Loan - all of this can be done at our enrolment day.
The Process
What does the training include?
Two A Level standard qualifications which include written work and will require commitment and dedication to complete them:

Transporting Freight by Road qualification - classroom and practical based training.

Customer Service - three half days work experience sessions at the Dulson Training offices.

On-road progression training & tests - once you have successfully completed the 2 NVQ qualifications, Dulson Training Ltd will provide you with theory & hazard perception training materials. When you are ready, the next step will be to book and pay for your theory & hazard perception tests.

Once you've passed your hazard and perception tests, we will arrange your in-vehicle training and when you're ready, we’ll book and pay for your practical test.

If you're successful at your first attempt at the practical test, Dulson Training Ltd will then book and pay for your Module 2 & 4 driver CPC.

Once you've completed the programme you'll be "job ready" and able to hit the road. In addition to your Cat C or C+E licence you will also have 2 industry recognised qualifications.
